National Digital Literacy Mission - NDLM

NIELIT is one of the National Level Certifying Agency for Govt. of India's 'National Digital Literacy Mission’ (NDLM). The mission of NDLM scheme is to provide digital literacy to every Indian. Making one person in every family digitally literate is one of the integral components of the Prime Minister’s vision of “Digital India”.

The Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (DISHA) or National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM) Scheme has been formulated to impart IT training to 52.5 lakh persons, including Anganwadi and ASHA workers and authorised ration dealers in all the States/UTs across the country so that the non-IT literate citizens are trained to become IT literate so as to enable them to actively and effectively participate in the democratic and developmental process and also enhance their livelihood.

NIELIT Calicut is one of the approved Training Partner and Training Centre for implementing NDLM scheme in the states of Kerala and Karnataka.

Two levels of training under the SCHEME

The two levels of IT training envisaged under the Scheme will have the following broad objectives:

Appreciation of Digital Literacy (Level 1)

To make a person IT literate, so that he/ she can operate digital devices, like mobile phones, tablets, etc., send and receive emails and search the Internet for information, etc.

Basics of Digital Literacy (Level 2)

Besides IT literacy at a higher level, the citizen would also be trained to effectively access the various e-Governance services being offered to the citizen by the Government and other agencies.

Eligibility Criteria

Level 1: Non-IT literate - Illiterate and up to 7th standard pass

Level 2: Non-IT literate with at least 8th standard pass

Age: 14 to 60 years

Course Duration

Level 1: 20 Hours (Minimum 10 Days and Maximum 30 Days)

Level 2: 40 Hours (Minimum 20 Days and Maximum 60 Days)

Fee

Level 1: For SC/ ST/ BPL Households, no training fee payable and for General candidates, the course fee of Rs. 125 is applicable.

Level 2: For SC/ ST/ BPL Households, no training fee payable and for General candidates, the course fee of Rs. 250 is applicable.

Place of Learning

The eligible households can nominate one person from their family. The selected person to get himself enrolled under this programme in the nearest Training Centres.

Agriculture 

Dairy Farmer

A Dairy Farmer is a person who is responsible for various activities involved in dairy farm management.

Paddy Farmer

The Paddy Farmer is responsible to cultivate paddy on a given piece of land and is responsible right from procurement of seed material to the sale of farm produce in the market.

Tractor Operator

The individual is responsible for the operation of the tractors for agriculture purposes and also is responsible for the maintenance of the same.

Apparel

 

Sewing Machine Operator

Sewing Machine Operations involves stitching of components of garments together using a sewing machine. The role of a sewing machine operator is very critical to the industry as it enhances the quality of the product.

Sampling Tailor

A sampling tailor is responsible for developing garment sample as per buyer’s specifications in the apparel industry. This job requires the individual to have a thorough knowledge of measurements, garment styles, sampling & apparel production processes and should be able to sew garments with different materials & trims.

Fashion Designer

A Fashion Designer should have the skills and knowledge to develop fashion design briefs and manage the development of design concepts for commercial production. A designer should be up to date with emerging fashion trends, as well as general trends relating to fabrics, colours and shapes. He/she should also have good communication skills, good sense of aesthetics, sound knowledge of sewing and pattern making.

Automotive

Automotive Service Technician (2&3 Wheeler)

An Auto Service Technician (two and three-wheelers) is responsible for the repairing and routine servicing & maintenance (including electrical and mechanical aggregates) of two / three-wheeler vehicles.

Automobile Service Technician Level 3

An Auto Service Technician Level 3 assists in service, maintenance and technical repair of vehicles.

Light Motor Vehicle

Individuals at this job need to drive safely on the assigned route with or without the company of a senior driver and will be in employment /or hired for a duration.

Sales Consultant (Automotive Finance)

A Sales Consultant (Auto Finance)is responsible for the sale of retail financial products such as vehicle/automobile loans, bulk/institutional vehicle loans and commercial vehicle loans and collection post the financial product is sold.

Taxi Driver

Individuals at this job need to help passengers in commuting from one destination to another in the private hire vehicles within the city.
